One Water
On March 29, 2010, the coalition Keep Nestle Out of the Gorge, led by Food & Water Watch, launched a campaign against Nestle Waters North America. They opposed a proposed water bottling facility in Cascade Locks, Oregon, fearing it would commodify public water resources and endanger native salmon and steelhead.
The coalition argues that such a facility would jeopardize local wildlife. As of April 2012, Food & Water Watch seeks support for a legal appeal to defend Oregon's water from Nestlé. Make a donation to the Crag Law Center to aid this effort.
Grandma Agnes Baker-Pilgrim stresses the critical importance of water. She observes that people are "crying for water," indicating a severe global scarcity. Without this vital resource, all life will perish.
Her message highlights our profound connection to water, and through it, to each other. Water unites us all, making its preservation essential for our collective survival and interconnectedness.
Imagine living beside the world's largest freshwater body, yet being unable to afford its use. This is the reality for Highland Park, Michigan residents, who face soaring water costs and demand accountability for these rising expenses.
This critical situation highlights issues of water access, community rights, sustainability, and civil rights, with particular relevance to women's rights, government responsibility, and local activism in Michigan. The topic is explored in a film by Liz Miller.
Our actions on a finite planet have a greater impact than we often realize. Daily choices, from personal habits to business practices, are interconnected in unexpected ways.
The health of business is directly linked to the natural world's well-being. Both can grow and flourish together.
This perspective comes from the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
